Here are a few events coming soon or which just happened:
- [July 2024] A great IGARSS 2024 with 10 papers spanning over multiple topics: artificial intelligence, large language models, quantum computing, etc. for diverse applications: agriculture (soil analysis from space), climate (El Nino index estimation), sky-to-ground matching, landcover, urban analysis, etc. Summary of all papers, or alternatively search on the IGARSS website or check publications. Also organised a successful session on Foundation models for Earth Observation with Devis Tuia: check the speakers here! and here (session 2).
- [June 2024] On June 17, I co-organise the usual Earth Vision workshop at CVPR’2024. Follow the news here.
- [June 2024] I intervened in the IEEE GRSS Summer School in High-performance and Disruptive Computing in Remote Sensing (HDCRS) in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and discussed Quantum Computing for Earth Observation (QC4EO): Advances and Challenges in Generative AI and Quantum Neural Networks (abstract).
- [May 2024] The journal article summarising the outcome of the HYPERVIEW challenge on Soil parameter estimation for agriculture from Hyperspectral imagery with New Space company KP Labs is now published in this IEEE GRSM article on HYERVIEW.
- [Apr 2024] Happy to be part of the PhD defence committee of Javier Martinez Amaya (also on linkedin) on the topic of: A Novel Machine Learning Framework for Precursor Estimation And Extreme Hurricane Prediction, supervised by Veronica Nieves (AI4Oceans) and Jordi Muñoz-Marí at Universitat de Valencia.
- [Apr 2024] 3 exciting projects at EGU’2024: Casper Fibaek presents the PhilEO geospatial Foundation Model, Seppe Lampe discuss Fire history reconstruction by AI for climate modelling, and Kai Jeggle unveils IceCloudNet our approach to get estimates of 3D profiles of cirrus same as the now ended CALIPSO mission, from wide-extent, top-view MSG images!
- [Apr 2024] I co-organise with Nick Everard and Kirk Martinez a plenary union symposium at EGU’2024 on Advancing Measurements and Observations in the Geosciences, with keynote speakers Rosemary Morrow (SWOT mission), Remko Uijlenhoet (ground-based remote sensing techniques ), Klaus Scipal (ESA Biomass and SMOS missions), and Michael Wollersheim (ICEYE).
