- [Dec 2023] At NeurIPS’2023 I co-organise a workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (AI+HADR) and a competition on rain prediction with machine learning Weather4Cast
- [Nov 2023] On November 24th, I am glad to give a keynote talk at the Machine Vision for EO workshop of the British Machine Vision Conference (BMVC) in Aberdeen (Scotland). I discuss Next Generation AI4EO, including Geo-spatial Foundational models and Quantum Machine Learning. Javiera Castillo-Navarro also presents our joint work led by Christel Chappuis, Sylvain Lobry, and Devis Tuia on vision-language models for Earth observation digital assistant.
- [Nov 2023] On November 22 I am at Quantum Technologies in Machine Learning (QTML) hosted by CERN in Geneva (Switzerland) to give a talk on ESA’s Quantum Computing for Earth Observation activities in the Industry Panel along with Google, IBM, Intel, Pasqal, IonQ, and NASA. We present also 4 contributions on Quantum Machine Learning with students and collaborators Su-yeong Chang, Francesca De Falco, Andrea Ceschini, Alessandro Sebastianelli, and Amer Delilbasic.
- [Nov 2023] November 6-9 I will be in Vienna (AU) as co-organiser of the Big Data from Space conference (BiDS’2023). I will share session on AI4EO, and present several works on diffusion models for EO, change detection with spaceborne hyperspectral data, Physics-aware Machine Learning for weather forecast, and potential of quantum ML.

- [Feb. 19] On Feb. 8th, I’ll give a talk about “deep learning for scene perception and understanding” for ONERA’s scientific high council.
- [Jan. 19] We at IADF launched the 2019 Data Fusion Contest, co-organized with Johns Hopkins University! It deals with Large-Scale Semantic 3D Reconstruction and aims to reconstruct both a 3D geometric model and a segmentation of semantic classes for urban scenes. It is cast as a 4-track competition: single-view semantic 3D, pairwise semantic stereo, mutli-view semantic stereo and 3D point-cloud classification.
- [Jan. 19] I co-organize the 3rd Earth Vision workshop which is dedicated to large-scale computer vision for remote sensing imagery. It will be held in conjunction with CVPR’19 in June, at Long Beach, Cal., USA. Full paper submission deadline is on March, 7.

Mihai Datcu will present an overview of the particularities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the fields of Earth Observation (EO). - [Oct. 17] Rodrigo Daudt joined the lab as a PhD student, co-supervised by Alexandre Boulch, Yann Gousseau from Telecom Paristech/LTCI lab and myself. He will work on analysis of multi-temporal activity in Earth-observation data.
- [Oct. 17] I will be at ICCV workshop on 3D Reconstruction meets Semantics to speak about a SnapNet variation for robotics. SnapNet is our multi-view CNN for point cloud labeling, and we used it to perform 3D-consistent data augmentation, which results in state-of-the-art performances in semantic segmentation on SunRGBD and NYUv2 datasets.
